507 Bar & Eatery

507eatery.nz

We had a laid-back lunch at 507 Cafe & Eatery in Sandringham this week—a new gem that brings a refreshingly unique style to the neighbourhood. The vibe is relaxed and inviting, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space that makes it perfect for a casual get-together or a peaceful solo break.

The staff were wonderfully friendly, greeting us with a warm smile and genuine hospitality that set the tone for the meal. The menu is filled with options based on fusion of authentic Middle Eastern and European flavours and the dishes featured a nice balance of spice and freshness. 507’s cabinet food offerings are pretty darn good too, with a fab selection of some of our fave sweet treats from ‘Daily Bread’, yummo! It would be fun to go back another time to try out some of the dinner options and have a sneaky little bevvy from the bar 😉

If you’re in the area and looking for something a bit different from the highly dominant Indian cuisine options on offer, 507 is worth a go. As the sign on their wall says, this is an ideal spot to take a breather and ‘recharge’.

Total spend – 4 people – $102.00 (we also took home some extra cabinet food for afternoon treats)

Louise had Greek lamb salad and some shared karaage chicken bites and drank an icedAmericano. She said, “The food for me was unfortunately quite lacking in flavour and served in very unexpected spacings of time, given how busy the cafe wasn’t. I wanted to be more impressed than I was so I could enthusiastically support local – might just have been an off day?”

Mel had Greek lamb skewers and some shared karaage chicken bites and drank a ginger ale. She said, “Not anything else like this in Sandringham shops, a decent amount of space with lots of different seating options both inside and covered outside. Very sweet and accommodating staff, everything came with a smile on their faces.  My lamb skewers were tasty and what I expected, I really liked the Tzatziki. Not sure about the very fine cut beetroot and kumara crisps – a more generous serving and thicker cuts might have been more flavourful :)”

Sarah had paneer tikka skewers & some shared karaage chicken bites. She said, “A nice indoor and outdoor space and a great stop-in for a quick cabinet food lunch. The service was super lovely!”
