Jono’s
Tucked in the middle of Mt Eden Village is the charming Italian-style restaurant, Jono’s. This place is incredibly inviting, offering great inside and outside seating options. Their substantial cream umbrellas out on the pavement and large bi-fold windows open out to create a very cool European ‘let’s sit around all day and drink wine’ kind of vibe. Eden Village is often humming with people and the day we visited Jono’s was no exception. Service was a little confusing – we weren’t sure if we needed to get their attention or just sit and wait, but good ol’ hunger made us impatient, so we made ourselves known to the staff and things picked up from there – whoop!
The menu had plenty of great options to choose from and on the whole, the flavours were pretty good. They did an excellent job at presenting and plating too – oh so pretty! If you don’t feel like the whole sit-down, Mediterranean cafe experience and are after a more ‘on the go’ type situation, they have some gorg cabinet options too.

Louise had the caprese salad and drank an Americano. She said, “Enjoyed the plating of everything but something odd was up with either my palate or the pesto on my salad. Almost musty – I just couldn’t vibe with it. I couldn’t make sense of the eclectic interior but I thoroughly enjoyed the open windows creating an epic indoor outdoor flow – felt European!”
Mel had the potato rosti benedict with pesto mushroom and drank a pineapple juice. She said, “The rosti was delicious, flavours were good, just lacking the pesto punch I was expecting from the name of the dish. The place felt very Italian, we could have been on holiday on the Amalfi Coast … well minus the epic ocean views lol! I will return to try some of their other dishes ;)”
Sarah had the chicken burger and drank a lemon ginger kombucha. She said, “The service wasn’t great as we waited a long time and had to go and ask to be served. The food was pretty good, great looking cabinet foods and I liked the layout and style of this spot.”
