We Huskies have a particular love of things sustainable, environmental and efficient. Working with Auckland lawyer Vernon Rive (who specialises in environmental, resource management and public law) to put together his branding, stationery, website and blog was thus an exciting and synergetic project for us. Vernon's stationery boasts vegetable-based inks and recycled stocks - yummy yummy - and we believe both his new website and blog are going to become key discussion centres for the industry. Vernon Rive helps make the world a better place and if you need a green lawyer, he's your man!

Doctors on Tractors | 26.12.09

Well not quite, but deep in the west of semi-rural Auckland (Waimauku) is a team of friendly and clever GPs who have set up the brand new Silver Fern Medical Centre. Amid the chaos and deadlines of the clinic construction, we worked with husband and wife GP team Marc and Lois Paton to pull together a new identity, stationery, signage and a website. Highlights of the practice include free mole checks, an on-site pharmacy and a 24/7 on-call service to registered patients! We often take for granted that we can fly places, or fill our cars up with petrol. And we definitely don't give a thought to who is doing what behind the scenes. But these guys do! NZ Safety Management Systems are a clever trio behind the scenes that work with companies and organisations to make sure everything happens safely and sensibly. And recently we enjoyed working on their new branding, brochures, presentations and business cards.

Thread Goes Live for Fashion Week | 6.10.08

The Thread website, a joint project between Megan @ Thread, Husk (design and build) and Godzone (content management), was a long time in the making but worth the wait! Launched just in time for Air New Zealand Fashion Week, Thread has made an impressive first-run down the catwalk. The website features thousands of articles discussing everything from who's wearing what, when and where to news and reviews on major NZ music, fashion, culture and beauty-related events. With site content driven by 'CMS Made Simple', Megan manages polls, slideshows, articles, competitions and more, producing a dynamic site that's got it all - and not just for the NZ fashionistas. Even a style-challenged hoody-lover like myself found several articles engrossing! Get threaded.

Celebrationz Website | 6.10.08

Husk are extra proud to have designed and built a website for our very own and highly recommended caterers, Celebrationz. Whether a company function or a birthday party, an outdoor reception or a old-fashioned afternoon tea party, Jacqui and her team have the incredible culinary talent, budget flexibility and organisational whizzery to pull edible magic out of the hat every time. What's more, they can cater for all manner of food requirements and use local produce/organic ingredients where-ever possible. If you need quality catering, you can't go past Celebrationz, and their offshoot Tea Parties.

HUSK now officially 'sustainable' | 17.7.08

HUSK {creative} is excited to announce that we are now officially members of the NZ Sustainable Business Network. The Sustainable Business Network is a national organisation that works with businesses to identify and adopt practices that will help them towards sustainability. Skalinada Cafe

To our utter despair, the owners of one of West Auckland's few decent cafes, Arum in Kelston, sold up several months back and moved on. Lucky for us, they decided to pack some Huskies in their chillybins! We have recently completed the branding for their brand new cafe 'Skalinada' launching in Mt Wellington mid-February 2008. Tihana, Natalia, Chris and the team are incredible chefs with food so well presented, you will be baffled into starvation through indecision. Meet us there for coffee one day soon. Go on. We won't say no.

Yummy Yum Yum | 1.8.07

We have had fun the last few months working on some cool jobs for Sue and the team at the Yummy Fruit Company. We have produced posters for an expo and a Fruit World promo and designed what we call 'mucked up' fake tattoos and t-shirts for boys and girls. We also munched out on Yummy apples while we were working for that extra bit of juicy inspiration. Watch this space in the next few months for a new yummy website. Mmmm mmmm. More >>

RNZFB inSight | 25.7.07

Husk and Black recently produced a slightly revamped 'inSight' newsletter for the Royal NZ Foundation of the Blind. The document highlights 2007 Blind Week (23-29 Oct), Mary Schnackenburg (the first blind NZer to earn an MBA), welcomes Sandra Budd the new CEO, updates readers on a new guide dog breeding centre and is topped with other encouraging articles about the Foundation's work. Congratulations Jessie Jacobsen | 24.6.07

Husk are extremely proud to congratulate Jessie Jacobsen on winning the MacDiarmid Scientist of the Year Award 2007 for her work towards finding for a cure for Huntington's disease. Jessie's award included a cash prize of $10,000 and a trip to the British Association of Science Festival in September. Jessie chose Husk to assist with her presentation poster and we had fun developing a newspaper article to best show off her clever research (though naturally she had to dumb it down a shade for us mere design mortals). Kristil are an Auckland based company specialising in whizzy home automation technologies including lighting and access control, security control and media centres incorporating tv, data, phone, video and audio. NZ Technology Park Branding | 14.2.07

Working with James Frankham from Splice, we recently helped to develop the corporate identity of a new technological initiative to be based in Penrose, Auckland - the New Zealand Technology Park. NZTP will be a purpose-built technology park and will contain 12,000sqm of flexible, modern work space, cafes, a gym, seminar and conference facilities as well as other communal networking areas.
